Guess who's back. Chicka Chicka Slim Shady.

Well after a three month hiatus, I have returned to the blogosphere to bring all of my loyal followers (yes, you two, you know who you are) vast information of what I'm doing out here. I haven't been writing much because of my full-time internship at Formula PR which ended on Friday. But that's over so I have tons and tons of free time. Hooray. Or boo? Depending on who you're talking to.

Over Memorial Day, Jenna and I took an awesome mini vacay to Long Beach. Home of several thousand screaming children. It was here that we spent the whole day laying out in the middle of a wind storm (sun and wind burns soon followed) surrounded by hundreds of children including a children's hockey league, then it was off to dinner and the aquarium (more children). Sting rays were touched and jelly fish were stared at, fun was had by all. Best part of the night occurred at the Mai Tai bar for Happy Hour. $4 tropical drinks? Don't mind if we did. Jenna was especially feeling the drinks and her quotes were by far the best I've heard in years:
Jenna: "hahaha" Me: What? Jenna: "I'm just getting tipsy. Everybody in the club getting tipsy. Those Ally bank commercials make me think its Allie bank. My face is on fire."
Me: "Jenna did you just eat the peach in your drink?" Jenna: "Yes like an animal. What animal eats peaches? A human. I ate it like a human animal."
After that it was off to 2nd street where we found the only bar in southern Cali to play country music. Unfortunately there was an old man groping his girlfriend at the bar for the better half of the night, lucky for us he was drunk enough to buy the whole bar pitchers of beer. Thank you, creepy old man.

Last night it was back to reality, or as sad as my life is, reality TV. Also known as The Bachelorette. This is by far the worst season to date. Since I have dedicated too many years of my life to this show, I feel that I am what should be called a Bachelor/Bachelorette Expert. Ashley, from the bottom of my heart, I hate you. Please stop pretending that you and Bentley weren't college buddies and that you didn't hook him up with a sweet job playing the "asshole who tricks Ashley into liking him." This show has gotten so bad, I don't have a love/hate relationship with it. It's full on hate/hate. But I'll continue to watch because... I can't help it. But really Ashley, you aren't attractive and you're a horrible dancer.

After the Bachelorette came the LA evening news. Big news of the night in LA? Sean Kingston getting into a jet ski accident in Miami. This was the breaking news story because the only stories that matter are the ones that involve some type of a celebrity. In less important news, a woman was seen dragging a trash can around a neighborhood in LA with body parts in it. Only in LA.

Well that sums up the last few days, stay tuned for what life holds for unemployed Megan. Hopefully a job? Anyone?

Thursday, the new Friday

Last night turned out pretty much as weird as I expected it to go. After an entertaining day at work, including a giant blown up Newcastle draught keg set up outside of our office (shown above), I drank a beer before heading home. Of course I had Jordan's car since mine is stuck in the auto shop for another day. I rushed home where Jordan and I ventured to Glendale to pick up my car from Chuck, the friendly auto mechanic/money-grubbing a-hole. After getting my car, Jords, JP and I trekked to the metro station decked out in green for St. Pattys day and ready to watch the Blues beat the Kings. We got there fashionably late, as usual, and enjoyed cheering incredibly loudly while the Kings fans booed us. Sorry we're winners. Then Mizzou lost, which put a minor damper on the night... but we were still in high spirits because of the 4-0 score, and didn’t even let almost getting hit by a puck ruin our night (Jordan’s biggest fear came true).

From the Staples Center it was on to our quest for the perfect Irish pub. After seeing the line at Dublins we opted for a smaller Irish bar downtown complete with a live Celtic band. A round of green beer and Wild Turkey (ew) shots, we headed to Hollywood to see what we could stir up. We found Wood and Vine, JP’s pick for the night and it was great -- the perfect sized bar with a great outdoor seating area. V Hudgens was there with new BF Josh Hutcherson who is probably about 5’2, if I’m being generous. It was disappointing to see V sporting a giant green cloverleaf belt buckle, she usually has such good style. Oh well, I’ll let this one slide. After we took back some Miller Lights, we decided to head home for the evening. Staying out until 3 in the morning on a weekday? Definitely regretting that decision today. If it weren’t for Friday morning breakfast at work, things would be bleak right now. Alright off to do more work, I’ll keep you guys posted on what the weekend holds.

My Long Weekend

This past weekend I took a trip home, and it turned out to be an awesome weekend. Brock and I took on St. Louis on Saturday (Crown Candy=so good) which led to a great night with Meghan and Andy, then Sunday it was family time for Grandpa's 90th b-day and Monday was movies and relaxing time at his house. However, coming back to LA I was completely freaking out. I knew I had to face a car that was not functioning as well as having to be up early to get back to work. After attempting to fix my car but having it literally blow up in my face, I had a good cry/mental breakdown last night.

This morning I decided it would be a good idea to take the day off to A.) get my car towed B.) enjoy the LA weather and C.) have some much needed down time. This helped so much. I'm feeling a ton better, and I was even able to lay out in the sun and read for a couple hours. I'll keep everyone updated on what the rest of this week brings including: St. Pattys Day happy hour, Saturday thrift store scavenging and my sister's arrival on Monday!

Here's a pic of Brock and me by the Arch on Saturday and the pretty name decorations Jordan and I made at our apt. today!

So, What Have I Been Up To?

I am finally doing a good blog update to make all of my blog followers happy! (Aka Meghan and my sister) So after my first official week of work and then my first weekend with Jordan here, things are looking a little better. I am surviving solely on Ramen noodles and PB&J’s which is actually working out pretty well. Being poor is something I’m ridiculously good at. My big splurge of the week was a giant gallon of wine at the local Vons for $5.99. (It was about to be $9 since I didn’t have a Vons card, but thank God that old man behind me offered his card—it literally made my day) The week went by so slow, which may be something I have to get used to? Yikes. My new work wardrobe is turning out pretty well, I bought a good mix of separates in neutral colors (mostly from Gap on sale for $15 or less) so I can mix and match throughout the next 3 months.

Thursday brought about a good surprise when my friend Brett texted me saying he had some good tickets to the LA Kings game that night. I had no idea he worked for the Kings, but I was definitely not going to pass up anything free. Especially free tickets! So I headed back to the apt. after work, and Jordan and I headed to the Staples Center. The seats were Unreal. We had so much fun, even though we sat next to the two dumbest girls in LA (Two FULL minutes after the entire crowd stood up and cheered for the King’s first goal, Dumb Girl 1 turned to Dumb Girl 2 and said, “Oh I think they scored.”) After the game we went to a bar/restaurant by the Staples Center and ate some food and had some beers. Then it was back home since I had work early in the morn.

Friday night was probably one of the least exciting Fridays that I’ve had in quite awhile. Jordan and Jenna were at Disneyland, and I headed right home after work to throw on my pajamas, grab some wine and enjoy hours and hours of TV shows on Hulu. I caught up on all of my shows, which sounds like a lame Friday night, but it was exactly what I wanted to be doing that night. Saturday Jordan and I headed to the mall to do some returns, and then went back to the house to get ready for the night. We went out to a bar in West Hollywood that night. It was pretty fun, definitely better than last weekend.

Then yesterday was the big Oscars day. I watched the Red Carpet preshow that started at 3, and then we had to turn off the TV when the Oscars started because we were going to Jennas for a watch party that night. It. Was. Torture. We finally had to force ourselves out of the house because we wanted to watch it so badly. We ventured to Jamba Juice for a little bit of heaven. Jenna finally made her way back home, and we were able to watch the Oscars at last. To sum up my opinion of the night Mila Kunis killed it in the lavender Elie Saab dress, and I was so happy to see Colin Firth win for A King’s Speech. All of the movies nominated for Best Picture were awesome though, but I would’ve liked to see The Fighter win. A King’s Speech was a bit, um, slow for my taste. Overall, the weekend was good. I’m still missing home, but who knows if/when that will ever change.

Today I am getting through the day with the knowledge that I have two solid hours of The Bachelor to watch tonight. For some reason I am super homesick today, and I woke up feeling like I wanted to just sit at home and cry. When I go home in 2 weeks it’s going to be really hard for me to come back out here. Who knew I was such a baby? Prairietown, Oh Prairietown! (Only my sister will get that) Alright it’s back to work, and another looong week.

Real Jobs are Exhausting

This update is basically only for Meghan because she has been hounding me to update my blog. Sadly, having a job that is 8 to 5 means that I wake up tired and get home tired. I'm always tired! And this is only the second day of being a working woman. Terrifying. For those of you who didn't hear, I started a full-time paid internship at FormulaPR. It's a pretty awesome company with a lot of young interesting people. I'm already feeling like I'm fitting in which is great. However, adjusting to having a job to go to everyday has yet to sink in. I figure after a few weeks it will feel pretty normal. Ok this post sucks but I'm sooo tired. I'll update it better this weekend!

Holy Heart Attack

As if two interviews in one day wasn't stressful enough, I came home today to find that my computer was not responding. Sure, falling asleep to this week's episode of The Bachelor playing on Hulu may not have been the most sensible idea, but I didn't think it would cause my computer to completely shut down. Anyone who knows my loyalty to this old Mac knows that I wasn't going to give up easily. After consulting with my parents and trying every trick they could find online, I decided to consult an Apple technician. Well short of laughing at me, he basically said my computer was so old there was nothing he could do about it. Really? He thought I should just say goodbye to my loyal iBook and move on to a newer more expensive model? Shocking. Well sorry "Dan from Apple" I don't have $1,000 laying around for a new computer. Wish I did.

After getting off the phone with the unhelpful Dan, I was close to full blown hysteria. How can I survive in LA without my computer? I was losing it. Then I thought, what if I hit the button on the back by the battery at the same time I hit the power button? Nobody had suggested that yet, and I was desperate. Needless to say, it WORKED! I jumped around, did a few cartwheels, called Brock (not excited as he was eating dinner at Applebees) and my Dad (a little more excited that I did it on my own), and then realized that I might just be becoming an (gasp!) adult! After that I decided to head on down to my trusty old Jeep to fix my brake light. Using tools and even getting my hands dirty, I fixed my brakelight within the same few minutes as my computer! Adulthood here I come!

iBook G4, How I love thee.

The New Apartment

Well I'm finally all moved in! The apartment is fab, spacious and just what I wanted, now I just need Jordan to get here. Since I'm on a low (no) budget, I'll have to wait to decorate more until I get some money. My absolute favorite part about this place is the outdoor patio! Love, love, love it!
